less than 5 hours ago my great dad fell asleep the last time :( still in a bit of a shock and sad that i will not see him again...i promised myself that once he is here no more, i will somehow make my move out of this organisation who kept us all captive believing in a fantasy of an everlasting life :( i am in a tricky situation, since raised as jw, still in, married to an active jw, and pretty sure that all in my social and family circle will turn their backs on me if i finally say goodbye to a fairytail ;(.
Sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. A bit of our own light goes out when we loose our Fathers.
One foot in front of the other....step by step until the passage of time and changing circumstances bring you to a place where you can decide what is to be done (if anything) about your JW situation. Allow yourself to grieve and come to grips with your loss before worrying about what to do next....there is no hurry.

oh this is just worth sharing!.
so , as many know, it has been two years since i have attended any meetings, conventions, etc....nothing...cold turkey.. the hassles and problems the elders threw our way were monumental....so many details i could share, but suffice it to say, we stood firm and kept our dignity and poise and reminded them of "appropriate boundaries ".
one elder in particular has since spared no effort in ensuring that malicious gossip and slander has been spread so that witnesses have avoided us like the plague!.
"But it did make me wonder whether he feels bad for maligning my name or spreading gossip for two years?"

21. If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; 22 For you will heap burning coals on his head and the Lord will reward you.
If these folks have even a shred of decency, they'll be thinking about their past actions toward you and hopefully others he's treated in a similar way

The easiest way is to first type out or past everything you want to say then go back and highlight what you want to be quoted and then hit the quote button.
in my old congregation there are two brothers (non related) who are in the early 30s.

What does that sound like to you? - in the words of Seinfeld "not that there's anything wrong with that" -
Nobody's sayin' these guys are gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) but odds are, if Lot (from the bible) opened his front door and threw his daughters out to them, the girls would be completely safe.
Seriously though, it's got to be more common than you'd think. If it's true, just think how messed up it must be for these guys (and others) to have to live that way and the struggle to reconcile the reality of who they are, within the confines of a rigid and condemning group of people.

the subject was the relocation and dissolution of some congregations; it seems that this is the result of some project that has been going on for some time and is going to be implemented right now.. please let me know if this is happening all over the country?.
Those who love the martyr aspect of being a good JW will feel especially proud and virtuous by traveling 30 miles one way to the meeting.

You can get cremation for about $750 at places like this. They even sell donated cemetery plots.
They sell Bible detectors now at Home Depot, that can be mounted on your front porch and they go off if a Bible comes with 200 feet. Gotta love technology.
